Abstract
Grazie alla interpretazione reologiea dei datisismici, lo studio dell'andamento di epicentrodei terremoti di carattere tettonico assumeun'importanza particolare. È così possibiledeterminare grazie al conosciuto meccanismodi epicentro e grazie all'opportuna scelta diuna superficie di spostamento i relativi terremotisuccessivi, e le caratteristiche di deformazionedella grandezza dei terremoti superficialiper le regioni più profonde della crostaterrestre. Queste caratteristiche di deformazionecostituiscono insieme con i modellistrutturali e le funzioni empiriche di scorrimentole prime approssimative possibilitàdi descrizione del comportamento geologicodei corpi geologici. Esse formano la base perle teorie strutturali semplificate. Le esatteteorie strutturali necessitano l'apporto diancora altri dati sismici e geologici, con ilche la impostazione del problema viene, peril momento, ancora complicata. La valutazionefinora fatta dei risultati delle misuresismologiche mostra che la crosta terrestre,in un periodo di venticinque anni, fino allaprofondità di circa 700 lem, si comportacome un corpo solido di Kelvin con effettielastici.
